Forum Title: How often does the final price differ from your initial quote?
I‚m sure this happens from time to time. How often does it happen? How do you handle a customer if they seem unhappy with the difference in price?

The only circumstance I could see this happening with would be rotten eaves or boards underneath the old shingles. The choice for the customer then would be to replace or keep. Replacement would obviously drive the price up. I can't think of anyone keeping rotten boards though.

I usually crack my knuckles and act tough when I tell them. The problem is my hands will then freeze up due to arthritis. Seems like a better idea in my head than it turns out to be.

From what I have been learning, the quote is an estimate and the customer is told it can go up or down 10% depending on any issue they run into.
